Abortion hot take
Hot take: if you claim to be pro-life, but think abortion is OK in the case of rape or incest, you are MUCH closer to being on Planned Parenthood’s side than the pro-life side. As soon as you start admitting exceptions, you’re not arguing about WHETHER it’s OK to intentionally take an innocent human life, but WHEN it’s OK. Either you believe that ALL lives are worthy of protection and are inherently valuable, or you don’t. Full stop. “Pro-Life but with exceptions” is an oxymoronic phrase. Practically everyone is pro-life but with exceptions; the justices who decided Roe were pro-life with exceptions. After all, the justices thought abortion shouldn’t be done after viability. Is the viability exception somehow worse than the rape or incest exception? Yes, one exception might allow for more abortions than some other exception, but allowing any exception loses the war. Believing in exceptions to man’s humanity has been the cause of suffering untold in the past century. Admit one, admit them all.
