Twenty years ago, September 11, 2001, amid the the suffering and chaos that was unleashed that day, something else emerged—a torrential outpouring of kindness and charity.
A lovely article that juxtaposes beautifully two kindnesses rendered. As a lifelong resident of Halifax and a tour guide, I take great pride in recounting the kindnesses of our American friends particularly when my tour goes by Massachusetts Avenue in the north end of our city not far from our Ground Zero (Pier 6). As for 9/11, many lifelong friendships were established as many Haligonians opened their homes to stranded travelers. (Note: Francis Mackey was the local harbour pilot that morning. The captain of the Mont Blanc was Amédé LeMédec.)
I've read this story before at least twice and yet again today .... I can never get enough of this story.
-- A beautiful story of the Love of 2 Cities/Nations when Catastrophe hits ...
--- My wife and I visited Halifax and all of Southwest bay area once .... I even stood on my Great Grandpa Guilbeaux's burial site ...
--- The people of Halifax and all of Nova Scotia are the Kindest people and welcome people from the US with Open Arms ...
--- They also helped in the Catastrophic Titanic Sinking off the Shore of Halifax ...
--- This is a Great Read !!! Thanks for posting ...
